Food Scientist, Researcher & Programme Management Professional working at the intersection of food systems, nutrition, livelihoods and climate-smart agriculture. I work with communities, research institutions, government and development partners to translate evidence into practical food-system solutions that strengthen food security, diversify livelihoods and support more sustainable and locally.

I am a Food Scientist, Researcher and Programme Management Professional from Kenya, with a career shaped by an interest in how food systems influence nutrition, livelihoods and community well-being. My academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology, followed by a Master’s degree in the same field, where my research focused on the nutritional and microbial quality of selected edible insects. This experience introduced me to the potential of alternative food sources and encouraged me to look beyond food production as an isolated technical process towards understanding the wider systems that determine what food is available, accessible, acceptable and nutritious. Since then, my work has spanned laboratory research, field-based programmes and development practice, including research and implementation involving edible insects, Spirulina, food security, nutrition and livelihoods. These experiences have taught me the importance of connecting scientific evidence with the realities of communities, producers and other food-system actors. Working with research institutions, government, development partners, private-sector actors and communities has broadened my perspective on the systems that shape food availability, access, nutrition and livelihoods. It has also strengthened my interest in climate-responsive, locally grounded and circular approaches to food systems. I am now seeking to grow as a food-systems leader who can bridge science, evidence, community realities and programme practice to contribute to meaningful food-system transformation in Kenya and beyond.
