Joseline Mujawimana

I work for RICA, a government institution mandated to enforce compliance with standards and regulatory requirements, promote fair competition, and protect consumer rights. My work focuses on food safety promotion and public health protection, contributing to safer, more resilient, and sustainable food systems through standards-related initiatives and engagement with relevant stakeholders.

Joseline is a food safety and public health professional working with the Rwanda Inspectorate, Competition and Consumer Protection Authority (RICA). Her work focuses on food safety, nutrition and public health, standards development, and regulatory compliance, driven by a passion for safer, healthier, and more sustainable food systems from farm to fork. She also represents RICA in meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements, contributing to dialogue and collaboration with partners working across these areas. She provides leadership in standards development as Chairperson of the Technical Committee on Food Safety and Hygiene Management and Co-Secretary of the Technical Committee on Cereals Pulses, legumes and derived products. Her engagement also extends to regional and continental standards work through the East African Community (EAC) and the African Organization for Standardization (ARSO). Beyond her professional work, Joseline is passionate about supporting children, young people, and families. Together with her husband, she co-founded Youth for Youth Rwanda and contributes to initiatives including educational and developmental summer camps, and engages families and couples through conversations and learning initiatives that promote family wellbeing. Joseline holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from Mount Kenya University.
