Julie Oyoo

Julie oversees nutrition and health activities at Rangwe sub County in Homa-Bay Kenya. She is employed by the county Government of Homa- Bay, Health department , Nutrition unit. Julie coordinates the partnerships between the the sub county nutrition office and the non governmental organizations working in various food value chains to mitigate malnutrition cases in Rangwe sub county .

Julie Oyoo is a Kenyan. She has an MSC, In Human Biology and nutrition from the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada. This training broadened her understanding that malnutrition is not only a health sector problem, but a multisector issue. It sparked her interest in food systems, a course she pursued immediately upon her completion of the masters program. Equipped with knowledge to tackle malnutrition, Julie has continued to work with the county government of Homa-Bay, and is currently creating partnerships with the relevant departments and organizations to offer "win-win" solutions. Her goal is to reduce malnutrition-related deaths in Rangwe Sub County and to improve the quality of lives of poor/vulnerable households. In January 2026, she also started the Hacienda Poultry Farm to leverage on the expertise of her retired parents who, over the years have practiced poultry farming as a side hustle. This venture is to improve access to eggs locally and to encourage youths and nutritionists to get into the agribusiness space and create jobs for themselves and others.
